Setup Proxy Network

Proxy softwares like BungeeCord and Velocity allow you to host multiple servers under same network.

Setup a Velocity network

Velocity is the proxy software we recommend. On Minecraft versions after 1.20.2, Arclight supports Velocity out of the box. The steps are simple:

  1. Download Velocity here. Velocity is backward compatible with older Minecraft versions, so you should download the latest version. Velocity document is a good place to start.

  2. Configure Arclight backends. In server.properties, set the online-mode setting to false.

  3. (Optionally) Configure player information forwarding. In arclight.conf, find the following parts and set the enabled to true:

    velocity {
      enable = true
      secret = ""
    }

    Fill secret in arclight.conf with the same secret in Velocity forwarding.secret file. Set Velocity config player-info-forwarding to modern. Velocity document is a good reference.

…and you are done.

CrossStitch is not required because Arclight did same.

Setup legacy forwarding in Velocity

Legacy forwarding is also known as BungeeCord’s ip forwarding.

In case you cannot use modern forwarding, Arclight supports this, but your Velocity server would require additional setup:

  1. Download lightcity plugin here and add it to your Velocity server. This is a Velocity plugin that add legacy forwarding support.

  2. Configure Velocity. Set player-info-forwarding to legacy in your velocity.toml.

  3. Configure Arclight backends. In spigot.yml, set bungeecord to true. In server.properties, set the online-mode setting to false.

Setup a BungeeCord network

Arclight provides lightfall as a replacement of BungeeCord, because BungeeCord does not support Forge’s handshake protocol, modded command arguments and etc.

On Arclight Forge for Minecraft 1.20.1 and earlier versions, you will need additional setup.

The steps are as follows:

  1. Download lightfall here. lightfall is backward compatible with older Minecraft versions, so you should download the latest version.

  2. Configure Arclight backends. In spigot.yml, set bungeecord to true. In server.properties, set the online-mode setting to false.

  3. Configure lightfall. In config.yml, set ip-forward to true. In waterfall.yml, set disable_entity_metadata_rewrite to true.

Setup BungeeCord with Arclight Forge 1.20.1 and earlier versions

Older versions of Forge require additional setup on clients:

  1. Download lightfall-client here and add it to your client mods. This is a client mod that allows forge clients to switch over servers.

Which proxy software setup should I use?

We recommend Velocity where possible. Here’s a simple support matrix table:
